The Department of Criminal Procedure Law at Tashkent State University of Law organized an international scientific and practical conference on the topic “Modernization of Criminal Proceedings: Judicial Control at the Pre-Trial Stage.”
The event was attended by representatives from the USA, Canada, Slovenia, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Supreme Court, the Military Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Anti-Corruption Agency, the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Children’s Rights, the Institute of Legislation and Legal Policy under the President, the Higher School of Judges under the Supreme Judicial Council, the Law Enforcement Academy, the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the University of Public Security.
The conference comprehensively discussed current issues of judicial control in criminal procedure activities, mechanisms for guaranteeing the rights and freedoms of individuals at the pre-trial stage, as well as prospects for improving national legislation based on advanced international experience.
Participants exchanged views on modern approaches to handling criminal cases, the role of digital technologies, and the need to introduce effective mechanisms of prosecutorial supervision over procedural actions at the stage of preliminary investigation.
At the conclusion of the event, negotiations were held between the organizations to strengthen international cooperation, implement advanced foreign experience into national practice, and modernize criminal procedure legislation.
